COMMENTS: The film contains complex and mature themes that are presented within the context of a biography. Some of the themes explored are self determination in the face of colonialism and subjugation, patriotism, national pride love for hockey, bringing about unity within a team to achieve a higher goal, Olympic games, sports, gambling, corruption, teamwork, hard work, excitement, not giving up on one's dream, alcoholism, starting over, the abuse of power, betrayal and sabotage. The themes carry a sense of threat and menace which could potentially lead to the arousal of fear to the younger viewers. Some of these themes although inspirational and treated sensitively in their delivery, would be more suitable to an audience 13 and older, who may be mature and familiar with and be able to contextualize concepts such as the history of colonialism, war and divisions along the lines of culture, religion and class.
